I am trying to get into using nico nico douga but I am not sure how and what it has and what it does not. What do you guys use it for?

That's a pretty broad question, I'm not sure what you mean.

It's a video site that has comments scrolling across the screens. You look for videos, you watch them, you comment, you favorite.

There's also ranking that you can look at that lists the hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly highest ranking videos, and you can further break it up into different sections and subsections.

Thanks, I was just unsure on who to use my Japanese is not that great so I could not read everything. I thought its was for watching movies last time I used it they had James and the giant peach in Japanese.

In that case, there's an English version available so you may want to take a look at that to explore the controls first. You can try venturing into the Japanese version after you have a good grasp of what the site is like.

It's pretty much the Japanese equivalent to YouTube. You have to register before you can do anything though.
