Hi, everyone.

I had difficulty choosing an English title for this thread without making it sound awfully awkward, so I wrote in Japanese instead.

My question is…has there ever been or is there maybe a political dimension to the Japanese 4-letter-words xD?

I have somehow gotten the impression that there might be… Any ideas?

Can you elaborate a little more because I have no idea what you mean...

a few examples maybe?

尊皇攘夷 springs to mind (if you like your politics pre-Meiji-era), but I'm not sure if it strictly counts as a 四字熟語...

@kitakitsune: Well, just been chatting with someone on yahoo. We talked a bit about Japanese “philosophy”, then the subject of our conversation somehow turned to politics and then I used a yojijukugo. For some reason, my vis-a-vis did not seem quite to approve of that.

@pm215: nah, I believe it would be rather post-Meiji. Thank you for your guess.
