Very hard compromise, studying for N2 or ???

Sorry for the awkward title but here is my case.

I'm very far from N2 level for now, I'm around 4000 vocabulary (only recalling), my kanji level let's say no problem, listening big problem, reading need practice.

I was aiming through next 2 months to thrust myself into the aim of making it through N2 at least with 50% but I have now a very hard compromise.

I'm going to japan just 2 weeks before the JLPT Exam for a study trip after wining a contest (for exchange between arab/japanese) .

So that would be my first step to japan but 2 weeks before the JLPT ?????
As it's a study trip I will have to write a report in japanese about arab culture and islam.

Wich i'm sure will require some efforts that I'd like to cut off a little bit this month.
To ensure I'll profit maximum from the 2 weeks (It will never occur again free fees etc)
And I don't want to spend there my mornings through ANKI => kanji / vocabulary.

But if I don't do this after coming back there will be only 2 weeks left.

Ahhh, what do you think should I do?
Sorry if any point isn't clear.

My advice is do whatever it will take to make the most of your trip.  If that leaves any room to prepare for the JLPT or if it overlaps with preparing you for the JLPT then that's a bonus.

I'm assuming here that you don't have an immediate need for the JLPT certification? As in, you could, if need be, take it again 6 months later and just be out a bit of money. Do I assume correctly?

Maybe you could still do Anki, but since you're in Japan, you could try to actually use in a conversation the words you've learned today (or that you feel need extra practice). It's only me, but I'd find it cool to have such an objective every day, like "ok, today I'm actually asking a Japanese person about this, whatever the means used!" Since you say you mostly have problems with listening, I don't totally understand why the dilemma: you're going to Japan, the place where people speak Japanese the most in the whole Universe! smile Go sit in a café and... listen!

@JimmySeal:I tought JLPT was held every Year not every 6 months?
Well It's been a whole year full japanese (doing nothing else) and waiting until next year will be a pitty.Because I'd like if I still keep the motivation to reach a N1 into the next year.
Otherwise getting a JLPT will be a good enhancing to be recruited for exemple as a beginner interpret.

@comeauch:That maybe interesting to learn and use word in the same day.But for someone who just want to get N2, I think of crushing more vocab let's say 1500 for this month and the next .But I think as @JimmySeal said it's better to prepare for enjoying the trip MAX  : /

Yep at least keeping up with ANKI Review, I'll be training my listening there.
Try to complete chuukyuu kara manabu and maximum I can do on this month + preparing some ideas etc on the report. What do you think?

Depends on where you are. It's held twice a year, in July and December, but facilities in some cities hold the test in only one of those months. See here for the dates in specific cities.

As I tought there is no July session here.
I need to make a check list of minimum required skills to pass jlpt 2 with one month half.

My gf's response to this was, "F*ck it. Go to Japan and enjoy yourself." I'd have to concur. :-D

I would focus on developing additional skills'vocab you will want to have for interacting with real live Japanese people. Take advantage of that rich opportunity, and leave the JLPT for next year (assuming you don't need the certification for some reason).

In America, the JLPT is only offered once yearly (http://www.jflalc.org/jlpt.html). Looks like the same is true of Morocco: http://www.ma.emb-japan.go.jp/francais/culture_jlpt.htm

@gaiaslastlaugh:HAHA very funny response,yoroshiku
Concluding from responses : Vocab MAX! Besides preparing to the japanese report!

That's basically what should I do, tough this might be another thread but recently I noticed that the Recall Template starts to be ineffective. Because naturally I don't think in English but using RIKAI chan, all definitions are in English. So the Recall template start to be more a Reflexion (I start getting very used to some cards) for exemple bashfullness:うちき/内気 I'm sure I'll never use nor think of bashfullness but うちき seems pretty natural. This might to turn into a new thread I guess.

The question in the end will turn on how effectivley can one attain N2 into one month lol
