Yeah look, on reflection, I don't think my objection was particularly helpful... It came out more sarcastic/critical than I intended, sorry. So I feel like I should explain:

I'm NOT saying don't share your personal stuff (when it's RELEVANT). I also like it in general when people share from their experience/life. I just couldn't see any connection to the topic here. And this isn't an isolated example. I guess it just grates on me personally, because it basically comes across as bragging. I think what you really intend to do is simply contrast how much your life has changed (for the better) since moving away from that scene, right? BUT, it also comes out a bit like: "Everyone look at me, I'm so tough, I used to pick fights and almost get killed everyday, etc."

And yet, there is never any real explanation of what you went through. Just passing comments about violence and gangs. And I HAVE looked at your facebook page before, out of interest, but it doesn't help because this is what I find:

"Challenging bouncers to fight, almost getting myself killed, intimidating people, making enemies, almost getting myself killed, pissing off some of the most powerful people in the city, scamming drug dealers, terrifying people among other things."

When it's thrown around like that (even if it's all true), it sounds more like a bad movie synopsis than the life of a real person... Maybe making an off-topic thread to share your story properly isn't such a bad idea after all.

Anyway, that was a longer post than I planned to make, but does my objection make more sense now?
