I'm a huge fan of bands like Ayreon, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Phideaux, IQ, Magic Pie, A Perfect Circle, and so on.

I've been trying to get into Japanese music, but the only band I've gotten into that fits my tastes is Rikugo (you find them on Spotify), so...

Are there any prog heads out there who knows some good "J-prog" bands? smile

I dont know that many, but i think you should check Demetori, i tend to listen to it when i have problems with keeping my reviews in anki. If i were to look for some more bands i would probably slow down on my study.

I'd like to know, too.

So far I've only found Sigh. This song (and album) is a masterpiece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqkhVlWAi90

Also, Naikaku sound great too, but they're far from being metal. Unfortunately, none of these bands sing in Japanese. tongue

I tried listening to Rikugo to get a feel for what you were looking for, but youtube failed to find anything of quality.

Anyway, can't say if it's progressive, but I really like Exist Trace (Japanese).  They have much heavier stuff than here, but this is the stuff that I think is the best.  Heaviest to lightest.

As long as you aren't insisting on Japanese language, check out orchestral-metal Kadenzza.

JUST interesting though *off to purifying my ears with some Neo-classical metal*

I used the prog-archive list, but it lists so many bands that sings in English, and bands that are nearly impossible to find on the internet...

Also, can anyone help me find a link where I can buy mp3 albums from Rikugo? (http://www.rikugo.com/) I found an amazon.co.jp, but they won't let me buy mp3's unless I live in Japan, which I don't.

And bandnames like PEOPLE, EX-GIRL, and so on doesn't really make looking them up any easier...

That song is great; thanks for the share. I didn't realize that one of the guitarists of JDK Band (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVIgv3PSJek) was the mastermind behind Demetori.
