I suppose this topic has been asked before, but all my searches lead to RTK volumes 4 and 5.

I bought a copy of RTK v6 a couple of months back. I've been carrying the darned thing around with me ever since (even when I'm not using it, it's helping make sure my bag doesn't blow away in the Tohoku winds tongue) That being said, 2 months ago I bought an iPad which is also with me where ever I go, and I would love to find a digital copy of V6 somewhere.

The reason I'm asking here is I didn't see one on Amazon to buy, nor on my iBooks either. I'd rather not go to [completely legal book acquisition sitez] but if I have to I will. Does anyone have any suggestions to help? Is there a proper digital list or copy? Should I just pummel my way through to part three with the paper copy and then use my memory to ID the primitives in a digital list?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been hoping for a version in the kindle store or anything similar but it seems unlikely. Although Ebooks are rising in populairty fast so all is possible.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it's good to hear from another user who's in Tohoku! If you don't mind me asking, where in Tohoku are you? I, and surely others too, would love to hear about your experience and any places to go and things to do that you'd like to recommend.

On topic: you could try emailing James Heisig and inquiring about a digital version.

I have also purchased a hardback copy of the 6th edition of RTK. Although a hardback copy is essentially a necessity, it would be nice to have the option to purchase an electronic version. I have a Sony eReader, so I would certainly purchase an electronic copy of RTK for ease of portability. I would have no problems in handing over more yen to Professor Heisig in appreciation of his great work.

As you are in Japan, maybe you could have a copying service convert it for you (http://www.scan24hr.com/). Perhaps they could scan it for you without the OCR option. The cost would be 100yen + the destruction of your paperback copy, I think.

Otherwise, a digital copy of version 5 is easy enough to obtain online. Maybe you could use that along with a list of the index number differences, keyword variations and supplemental kanji (<-- I think this is available online on the publisher's website).
