Someone asked me about the average pay of a teacher in Japan (A normal teacher, he's not interested to moving into Japan or anything, he is just doing some research and since I'm learning Japanese I'm the "Japan Expert").
I searched online and found this: http://www.educationworld.net/salaries_jp.html but I have no idea what the "Grade" means, any idea?

Might have already figured it out, but just in case, the little googling I did makes me figure that grade = number of years teaching

Well, this teaching scale is from over 10 years ago. Hopefully it's changed a lot since then. It's hard for me to imagine a teacher working for about 10 years would earn the same amount that an foreign Assistant Language Teacher would make now. If it's so, I'd be really interested in any comments from people who know how much full-time public school Japanese teachers really make.
