OK. I have updated the script on mediafire so that it also includes the kanji primitives needed for RTK Lite. This is still a work in progress though. Now I just need to figure out which primitives are still needed and which are unnecessary. The link that I posted earlier in this thread has been updated too.

Folks can probably weed those out easily enough as they use the script. I haven't done RTK in ages, so.
Awesome work BTW. You the... man?

This update includes the 3 kanjis I clipped off in the earlier versions because they wouldn't display. http://www.mediafire.com/?kmm2bw1bozn The solution was simply to change 'maxFrameNr:' to '3007' in this piece of code: {name: 'Remembering the Kanji (Heisig)'}, {name: 'RevTK Lite', maxFrameNr: 2042, sequence: . . . All 1110 kanji are now included.

woelpad Wrote:I could, but my current copy is geared towards the test site. In the Greasemonkey options on the My Profile page, you can enter a * for Failed Kanji List Length. As such all failed kanji become accessible from the side bar. That should be good enough, no?When reviewing my expired cards today, I noticed that the very first card was not shown correctly. It displayed jewel (frame # 256), instead of shallow (frame #369, but sequence #256). Possible bug?
2009-08-03, 4:26 pm
Same behaviour confirmed today: the first expired card presented was WHOLE (frame #263) when it should have been POLITICS (sequence #263). All others were shown correctly.

I was looking into ways to phase out this script, since the test site has its own way of altering the card sequence, which should be preferred over the way this script accomplishes it. But all this sudden interest and the uncertainty about when the test code will move to the main site may force me to release another version for the current site. Such is life.

That crazy Fabrice, you never know what he's going to do next! ;p Also, are you saying that you'll also have a script for the official refactored site because its underlying mechanics are different and superior, or that the new site itself will have built-in sequence-altering capabilities?

Hey Woelpad!
Thanks for the awesome work on KanjiLite --I love it so much! Anyways, I recently bought an iPod touch, and I have a small question for you. I would love to use my ipod to review, but since the iPod uses Safari, i cannot of course install greasemonkey. Would it be alright if I did reviews using my iPod touch? Would it mess up the sequencing somehow? Again, i only plan to do reviews with my iPod touch. When it comes to adding new Kanji, I will use my laptop running your script.
Do you see any potential conflicts with this plan?
Thanks for all your hard work!

I had the same problem during my vacation this summer : no Internet connection for my laptop, so I had to use my iPhone. But then, no French keywords, and no RevTK Lite option so that lots of undesired kanji kept popping up. I suppose there is no chance to see a fix there unless i) Firefox becomes available for the iPhone or ii) the above features become part of this site — will this ever be added to the todo list ? The Greasemonkey scripts are great, but surely not as good as a native feature…

I've been seriously looking into this RtK Lite option and was wondering if anybody had the Kanji in some sort of word/txt format. I have the wonderful Anki deck with all of the kanji suspended and would like to un-suspend them as I work through this Lite option.
2009-08-26, 2:07 am
Not sure I understand. If you have the RTK Lite Anki deck, you can export a list. There's also a list in this thread (#31) that you can copy (as well as a list of the extra 92 you'll need for primitives).
Also a list by Scuda here: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?p...4#pid58074

Thora has tried to help me with a problem I have with RTK lite but perhaps I have not made myself clear enough.
If for example I am learning kanji no 52 for "morning" which is seemingly composed of "mist" and "moon" the kanji for "mist" has been omitted in the RTK lite version and I therefore have no mnemonic for it. If I need to backtrack to find it, what is the point of omitting it in the first place?
If I understand it correctly there are an additional 92 primitives to be learnt but I am not quite sure how they are meant to be incorporated in the learning process or RTK lite system.
In any event "Mist" is, I think, a combination of primitives and so needs a mnemonic of its own to be recognisable.
Where am I going wrong?

Peter - Ah, I think I see what you're after now: primitives that aren't kanji. This isn't an issue particular to RTKLite.
The list of 92 are actual kanji that also function as primitives. They are not kanji needed for JLPT2, but are needed as primitives for RTK.
The are also primitives that are only components of kanji - they are not kanji themselves - therefore they are not included in that list. These primitives are in the book but are not included in this site. The idea is to learn the primitives as you go along, but not to review them (it's not really necessary).
I don't know of a list of primitives. There is a font floating around created by Pangolin that will allow someone to create one (non-kanji primitives aren't encoded characters). There's a list of non-kanji primitives in Index II of the book (without keywords).
I'm curious, do the RTKLite lists (RevTK and Anki) already contain the 92 extra kanji?

In case there's any confusion:
Ruiner links to a list of Kanji Odyssey 2001 kanji (1100) for use on this site (including the extra 92 kanji-primitives).
RTKLite is based on the JLPT2 kanji (1023). (+92)
I thought someone had shared a RTKLite Anki deck, but I didn't see it at Anki. Maybe I imagined it. Perhaps someone could share one using Scuda's list (adding the 92 extra?), describe what's included, and make a post here?
Edit: Scuda posted a link to his RTKLite Anki deck earlier in this thread: here. It includes the 92 extra kanji. It'd be good to share it at Anki in case Scuda's links disappear.

Thora-sorry but I am still not sure about this although thanks for clarifying a number of points about the 92 kanji functioning as primitives and the use of primitives which are not kanji.
In simple terms, how do I learn kanji no 52 (morning) when it contains an omitted kanji (mist) which is not on the list of 92 but also functions as a primitive?
Apart from that why were the 92 kanji omitted- was it just a computing difficulty?

It's just a part which is present in some kanji, it can't be used by itself.

Peter - I take it you don't have the book.
Each of the non-kanji primitives are introduced in the book just before the kanji in which they are first used. This is Mr Heisig's entry for 'mist':
The primitives don't appear on this site as part of an agreement with the book's publisher. I imagine the idea is to create an incentive to buy the book. There's a link on this site's homepage to a pdf of a sizeable portion of the book (lengthy intro plus 100 or so characters). I'd start there.
Edit: If you are asking why they are not including in the JLPT list, it's because only the RTK method uses primitives in this way (and presents the kanji is this order).

Conveniently, mist falls early in the morning, like little needles of rain, to assure that the sunflower blooms early as we have learned it should."By reading the shared stories on this site, you should be able to figure out the names for the primitives. Be aware that some people choose to rename their primitives. You can make up your own stories for them.
