program that stream live TV?

Are fengyunzhibo's Japanese channels down for everyone, or is it just my location?

They're down for me too (eastern cost of the US).

The areas showing (what I assume are) the number of viewers/peers are all at zero, so something's up at the origin of the streams. Maybe the site got a notice and was forced to close the streams until it's resolved one way or the other. Whatever the case, the streams are down.

I'm in Europe, same deal.

The weird thing is, I sometimes see their J-Sports streams posted on wiziwig (a site with live links to live sports, including Japanese baseball games). Those links are posted by an actual person, they're not automatic.

That's why I suspect they might be on in China, and they're just blocking the rest of us to save on bandwith.

Possible... I don't have on further in, but connecting through my VPN's Hong Kong server gives the same thing: no peers, no stream. Unless they went through the trouble of blocking individual servers (unlikely), it's probably out for everyone.

I guess Hong Kong could be excluded entirely, but that seems unlikely, considering it's technically part of China again; it would only be a pointless political statement.

Then, do you know about any other ones?

It sucks. It's ridiculous how much time I spend watching sports. To think that I could watch it all in Japanese, if only there were some reliable streams.

Anyone know a way to make NIJI not be such a bandwidth hog? I feel like streaming normal quality TV would be less stressful for my internet in any other situation (e.g. I stream source quality on websites like Twitch just fine while also surfing the web).

Is anyone having problems with Niji TV recently? All stations aren't working except 日本テレ and 読売テレビ (which is most of the time it's 日本テレビ broadcasts). フジテレビ works sometimes. Anyone having the same problem?

(I install the niji, make a account and login)
Screen keep unchanged showing Niji Show?!

I'm using a great program for Japanese TV, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it on this thread, it's called NTKTV and it looks something like this (sorry about the crappy quality)

Up to eight days worth of TV for 8 channels are accessible through .jar files. You can choose to play any 1 hour segment from the time period. It requires minimal user interaction to switch to another 1 hour segment - that is, a click - but I find this program much more stable than Niji.

I'd love to try that out Linval. However, when I try to run the download I get this:
edit: got it to work, nevermind.

By the way, where can i find those jar files?
Never mind I found a link in this thread http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_56753_840.htm

This is awesome by the way, thanks.

It didn't work for me, the download is just a .jar file that doesn't do anything when I click it :/.
Also I can't register on NijiTv, the page is blank!

@Givala NTKTV needs Windows Media Player installed. If you try to run it from Mac or Linux it won't work.
@vebaev If you are on Windows, it looks like your "Language for non-unicode programs" is not set to Japanese, other than that I'm not sure. If you are not using Windows & running it in an emulator, know that others haven't had much luck running it emulated.

But I have Windows, maybe is because it's Windows 8.1?

Maybe. I don't have Windows 8...Maybe they made a major change to Windows Media Player in Windows 8? If you dig around in it's file properties you should find a way to run it in compatibility mode. Try putting it in the compatibility mode of a few different Windows versions and see if that fixes things.

I got working NTKTV on Mac, if someone is interested there is workaround way...

I got Niji up and running (and it's pretty awesome for a free player), but I can't seem to do anything about the aspect ratio. Is there a button I'm missing?

I just downloaded it and luckily found out how. Right click somewhere in the video and you can change from default to stretch fill.

Edit: It seems to have bad audio sync issues for me. Anyone know how to fix that? Sad

The only ideas I have are related to your data stream. If it doesn't get enough data, everything gets all messed up. (I had one channel on an endless loop until I moved to another. When I came back later, it was fine.)

I don't know for sure which ports it uses, but if you can figure it out, make sure those ports are open on your router.

The only other thing would be to update/reboot. If you click the "Upgrade" icon on the top row (the leftmost of those icons), it will update the software, so that may help, too! (Along with updating Windows, in case there's a WMP patch you're missing.)

I'm definitely interested.

Is it working natively on OS X? Or through Wine, or a Virtual Machine?

Bokusenou Wrote:@Givala NTKTV needs Windows Media Player installed. If you try to run it from Mac or Linux it won't work.
NTKTV doesn't rely on WMP. On Windows, it will download the video to the %temp% folder. Once the begining download is finished, it will show an error saying it can't find WMP, but the video will still download (so you can go to the temp folder and just open it up with VLC, MPC-HC, or something else).

I guess it's the same with OS X, but from Linux, the download won't start; I'm guessing because the folder it's trying to download to doesn't exist.

Got it working on Linux; really surprised I didn't think of this earlier though...

In my case (Ubuntu 14.10 + openjdk8), Java had the default Temp directory set at /tmp/, which I guess doesn't exist, or isn't writable or something. So the solution was to just set the temp folder somewhere else.

The following command works for this:
java -Djava.io.tmpdir=/home/espionage724/tmp -jar '/home/espionage724/Videos/ntktv/Kantofixed/TBS.jar'

(you can adjust the tmpdir to whatever you want, as long as you have the permissions to write to it)

The resulting .asf seems to end up in the Home directory. Can just execute it with a media player and be good to go. mpv works fine.

Ah, before I forget-- I solved the aspect ratio problem. Just right click on the video, and select the correct one. D'oh.

What's currently the best way to stream live Japanese TV? Any new programs pop up? I think NIJI has been dead for a few months now.

NIJI still works. Haven't heard about anything else though.
