Okay, I bought the book about a week ago, and am on my 3rd of 4th day of RTK. So like, the first day I did about 40 kanji or so, and when I reviewed it on Anki, I had like a 91% retention rate. The next day, when the review for those came along, it took me a while to recall the stories to write the kanji for the keyword, but I still managed a 88% retention rate. A few days later, and my retention rate keeps dropping. It seems like *every* kanji I remember takes a while to remember, because I have to think of the story in my head, and my retention rate keeps dropping. Is this normal? o.o

At its worst, my retention rate was probably below 50%, but when you get used to RtK, it will rise again.
Just keep going and the kanji will eventually find their way into your memory; I have some that I've failed 5-6 times before they finally stuck.
My advice is just keep going.
Every day since I finished RtK, it has never dropped below 75, and only once below 80.

Are you making vivid images of the stories? Remembering the mnemonic can take sometime at first, but the retention rate shouldn't drop below 75-80%.

Getting going can take a while. You're training your brain to learn kanji, and I think you just need to keep practicing.
