I'm curious as to whether or not you guys record yourself. In particular I wanted to mention speaking while reading from a book. Now I'm reading 「時をかける少女」 and I thought, "What if I recorded myself reading and then posted it to YouTube?" Since I'm already on page 35 I would start the recording from the beginning while my unrecorded reading continued as previously. I'm hoping that if I upload it to YouTube maybe Japanese speakers may stumble upon it and could contribute in some way. More importantly I think it could help me build up a speaking rhythm that I don't have as a result of not speaking Japanese much.
If there's some advice I'd like to hear it.

you might get distracted, because you will either focus on your intonation and stuff rather than on the story.

I sometimes read out loud. It can make a nice change from silent reading and I think it probably is helpful in terms of speaking ability. You're better off posting on Lang-8 than youtube if you want feedback though.

I read aloud often simply because it helps with smooth pronunciation. I've noticed that those who don't often read aloud frequently get tongue-tied with phrases that repeat similar sounds (especially ら、り、る、れ、ろ) and long 送り仮名, especially the rarer ones (~ざるを得ない, etc.).
