I'm curious as to whether or not you guys record yourself. In particular I wanted to mention speaking while reading from a book. Now I'm reading 「時をかける少女」 and I thought, "What if I recorded myself reading and then posted it to YouTube?" Since I'm already on page 35 I would start the recording from the beginning while my unrecorded reading continued as previously. I'm hoping that if I upload it to YouTube maybe Japanese speakers may stumble upon it and could contribute in some way. More importantly I think it could help me build up a speaking rhythm that I don't have as a result of not speaking Japanese much.

If there's some advice I'd like to hear it.

I sometimes read out loud. It can make a nice change from silent reading and I think it probably is helpful in terms of speaking ability. You're better off posting on Lang-8 than youtube if you want feedback though.

I read aloud often simply because it helps with smooth pronunciation. I've noticed that those who don't often read aloud frequently get tongue-tied with phrases that repeat similar sounds (especially ら、り、る、れ、ろ) and long 送り仮名, especially the rarer ones (～ざるを得ない, etc.).
