keeping a diary/Journal

#1
I am thinking about keeping a Journal and tracking my progress. I wanted to see if anyone else does and if so how is it going. Does it keep you motivated? What do you put in it? Any ideas?

I do and I feel it's helpful. If you really keep track of what you do and how much time you spend on it, procrastination becomes visible. This really motivates me and helps me pull myself together and get down to work Smile It can also help you see, for example, if your study is balanced skill-wise, i.e. you can see if you're getting much more reading than listening practice etc. Here's a sample of my journal (which is a big word, it's just a spreadsheet, really): http://tinyurl.com/cbmbexj . Hope this helps Smile

I use Microsoft OneNote to track my progress but I will start implementing spreadsheets and also track the amount of time I put into my studies. Smile I can add the spreadsheet files into OneNote too so everything can still be logged all in 1 place.

I wish someone would teach me that... I'm afraid all I can teach you is how to make an hour disappear when you only mean to spend three minutes checking the forum, but I'm not sure if that's what you wanted ;-)

It's old :-P In July my study was slightly more varied than it is now (soumatome series for jlpt from top to bottom), so I thought the old spreadsheet would make a better example.

Edit: ok, finally noticed what you meant. oops :-)
