Just got to the end of Lesson 27 today, past the 50% mark!
Thanks to Dr Heisig for the amazing method, Fabrice for this site, and assorted members for good stories! (Although mostly I make them up myself...)
I'm mainly using Anki to review them, although I use this site as well. This one seems to show the cards more often than Anki? I'm not sure why.
At the rate I'm going now (about 20-25 kanji / day) I should be finished before next term starts! Although I'm going away for a couple of weeks, and I will probably lose a few days after that for catching up on reviews.
After I've finished the kanji ... onto Japanese proper! I'm really glad I've started learning now, because I have ambitions for the JET Programme after university and I guess it will help me if I speak better Japanese for it
It's really motivating going past a Chinese restaurant and knowing what the kanji (hanzi?) on them mean! It was funny how my brain went (courtyard + incense = ? Garden maybe?) and then I realised the restaurant was called 'Imperial Garden'....
Khatzumoto never did put that in 'motivation' for the kanji on his blog ... look at Chinese restaurant signs...
As well as that, I've made a counter that pops up when the computer starts up, telling me what % I'm at through the kanji, updating it after every Anki session. I think I'll feel quite happy looking at it every day after now and seeing it's more than 50%!
Good luck on anyone else who is learning the kanji! They're not as bad as they might feel at times!
