Passed 1026 earlier this week and have failed up to the point that I feel that I have absorbed the first 1k.
RtK (and this site & anki) have opened the doors of Japanese literacy that just six months ago I believed were not possible to achieve, let alone within 2 months know how the basic meaning (keyword) and how to write 1k characters. 2 months to go....

I just got to frame 1510 today. Halfway through the 3007 in RTK1+3 Aniki Deck.
Reviews keep piling up, seem to be about 150 or more a day now. Despite my best efforts some kanji just take a while to stick, with the odd one that won't stick for a long time.
Plan to start sentences around the end of RTK1, and keep going till I'm done with RTK3, unless my copy of UBJG hasn't arrive by then in which case I'll just keep doing the kanji till it does.

Reached 1021 earlier today. Damn, that's already too many kanji, and I'm tired. Now that Golden Week is gone I don't get to relax for a long long time, and I have to get my Japanese driver's license by July.
Gonna be a pain to get to 2042, I have a feeling. Still, I'm excited to hit the half way mark!

I've been using this site for a while but haven't been writing on the forums, but I think this is a good enough occasion to do so! I reached 1021 three or four days ago. I'm up to 1117 now. Only doing about 15 a day, so it's pretty comfortable.
Keep it up guys! Power to us all! (^-^)/

Just got to 1026 today. I've gone through very slowly compared to some of the people here; I'm at about the 9 month mark. However, my knowledge of Kanji has far surpassed what I learned in some college classes. I would learn the Kanji for that week's test, then promptly forget all of them - thus leading to moments of, "I used to know that Kanji."
I've been very slow at adding Kanji, and for awhile was bad about really visualizing stories, thus almost brute forcing them through SRS - I'm still happy with my progress overall. I never stopped reviewing, so I have 82% correct for 708 mature cards in Anki.
I've picked up the pace a bit recently, but I'm still only averaging 5-10 per day. It's very easy to keep up, and I'll still be done relatively soon compared to years of school "learning." I've started doing just basic sentence work in Anki - Tae Kim, etc - since the RTK was taking me so long. But I'm looking forward to going back to Japan and not just having a bunch of Kanji look vaguely familiar.
Anyways, for anyone who feels like they're not making the insane progress of people who are doing 100 kanji a day - I wanted to say it really doesn't matter. I've always tried to be the person who speeds through things, but this time I've just plodded along and I feel that my eventual retention will be no worse than anyone who completes it faster.

HALFWAY! Actually I got there a couple of days ago, I'm at 1090 now. I agree, I admire those who do 100 kanji a day, but I don't know how you guys do it.. When I was at 800, I tried doing 50 a day for 4 days, and now I feel like I don't remember a lot of it. :\
Anyway, 952 more!

I'm at kanji 1060 now...it's a great feeling. I remember when I was beginning, and used to look at the kanji 1000 and so, thinking how much it would take to get there, and I'm already there. I feel that it's going to be faster now, as doing the proper stories (or picking them up here) is much easier, as you start to realize what sticks and what doesn't for you. I still can't do more than 30 a day though...the days I did 40 or more were a pain, because the reviews would take too much time, so I wouldn't do them in a good mood.
Oh, and studying RTK if fun, just imagining me being able to read a text in japanese someday, and understand everything, gives me the power I need to keep up =)

I hit 1012 today!
Exactly half way through now. My reviews are going ok, but I think I need to put a bit more effort into my stories. It's not that the stories are bad, it's just that there are so many stories that unless I'm very familiar with it, it can be hard to recall. More time using the SRS will sort it out hopefully.
Congrats to everyone else half way through, we can do it!

Hit 1000 so just under half way, running reviews only for a few days while exams pass, then onto summer to finish and start the real work! ;o Can't wait.

At 1030, and I loved doing all the "person" stories. Somehow they were way more vivid than most of the previous ones. Took me about two months, so hopefully it will only take two more to finish. Best of luck and congratulations to everyone who made it this far.

Woohoo. The half-way point! Plus a few. I went to the end of the chapter just to finish it off. I'm definitely "learning how to learn." as I improve my process as I go.

1026!!!!!!!!!!!! this last lesson took me so damn long (nearly four days) for lack of motivation, but i think breaking the halfway mark is just the kind of motivation i needed!... good and bad thing is i already have over 700 in the 4th box, so my reviews are becoming tiny (20 to 40)... takes less time, but i hate small reviews....

Ah, back to halfway again, feels good and in 2 weeks 2 days, may not be 100/day but close enough with my limited time ^^
It's all downhill from here ^^
