Can you tell us how many of the 2042 from RTK1 and/or how many of the 常用 set don't have kunyomi?

It's difficult to be precise because many kanji have rare and unofficial readings.
In the list of 1945 joyo kanji there are about 725 without kun readings (but only about 40 without on readings).

According to the statistics I have:
Number of Joyo kanji with kun-yomi: 1081
I imagine that refers to so-called "official readings." When you include uncommon readings you probably get a figure closer to Katsuo's result.

With regard to the "Others" category in the chart, I believe there are only two Joyo kanji (質,法) which have >2 "on" readings but no "kun".
Then, from the chart we can calculate 664 + 71 + 2 = 737 Joyo kanji with no kun reading.
