As the subject says I am looking for chat rooms for Japanese. I want to start practicing more. Right now, I am using lang 8 and its great but now I want to talk it to the next level. I want to start chatting with native Japanese speakers or people that are better than myself at the language. Do you guys know of any sites? Thanks in advance.

There are some IRC channels on Japanese IRC servers but they are far and few between.

The closet thing to this is NicoNico Live. Part of the cause of this is the fact that Japanese were and still are, for the most part, a mobile society. IRC clients don't work spectacularly well on the phone.

Chat rooms are awesome. It's where I first started learning Japanese and a lot of the friends I made I still talk to on skype now

Thanks I found a site called shared talk but I am not so sure about it just because my Japanese is very basic. The only thing I can say is your normal greetings, and talk a about the weather. Does anyone have any suggestions about getting to that next level in my Japanese. I feel I have been at this level for way to long and I need to break out of it.
