The "I just finished RTK1, please congratulate me" thread.

Finally done. It took about a year. Thanks to everyone for the stories, and Fuaburisu for keeping this site up.

Well done, Misha! What are your plans from here on?
Reply
My plans are lots of 読解問題 to learn compounds and meanings. The aim is to have a sufficient vocab for JLPT2 same time next year. Not forgetting the Heisig kanji is also somewhat of a goal Smile

I just finished RTK1. Like I said in another post, I have a red stack of 600 characters, some of which refuse to let me learn them, so in my mind I haven't really finished.

Nevertheless, I've studied up to the last kanji in RTK1!

Another one bites the dust. YEEHAW.

If I had money to spend, I'd probably go reward myself. Instead, I'll study more kanji.

Woo.

How about a Kanji style PBF?

Congrats everyone!

Raichu : I had a little under 300 at first, just go slowly at it, the red ones eventually disappear. As long as you don't encounter them in reading etc yet, no stress. It's fun to go back and see what new ideas people have come up with.

Haha, maybe I have you mistaken for someone else...or you're keeping your identity a secret. Either way, congrats.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

It looks like I've finished up right on schedule. =)

It was both harder and easier than I imagined. I took the slow route, only clocking in 10 kanji per day. You'd think that'd be cake. All I had to do was show up each day, and the kanji pretty much taught themselves. (Thanks, Heisig and フアブリス, for helping us kick ass!)

There were some days, though, when sitting down to do my kanji was the hardest thing on Earth. Those days were tough, and I didn't always overcome myself. All I can say is that it was never worth it, missing that day. And it was rarely just one day, because it only gets harder to continue and easier to skip each time. I missed almost 10 days in a row at one point.

So I fell of the horse more often than I'd like to admit. But I kept getting back on, and that's the only piece of advice I can give.

Congrats Terhorst!

No! I know what you mean. Skip a day and that's 20 the next day! Sometimes I did a few more if I was in "the flow" so I'd get a heads up just in case, or already knowing I'd give myself a break and do just 5 the next day. I did 10 a day for a while too, mostly between 1000 and 1700.

Congratulations on finishing Terhorst.

The last few chapers are hard aren't they? Here's hoping I finish mine before the end of the year.

I just finished number 2042, with none in my red stack. But until I get them all until the 4th box, I guess I'm not really finished.

I just finished the last frame today. Thank you to so many people; I don't think I could have done this without Fabrice's site, or the help of countless shared stories. Special thanks to Dingomick... you definitely got the record for most excellent shared stories.

Ofcourse it's not really finished because it will take ongoing review and strengthening stories. These are my Heisig decks tats in Anki.

Yay, I finished today! Well, you know what I mean, I finished going through the book. Smile Still a lot of work to be done, but at least it's just review, so it'll happen naturally, I guess. And now time to begin my reading practice in Japanese. Thank you so much to all the people whose stories I relentlessly stole! And especially thanks to fuaburisu for this amazing site without which I'm certain I never would have been able to complete the book.

Done! Well, as everyone else has already said, all except the reviewing. I'm glad the last few lessons didn't feel too difficult... The big animal lesson was a killer.

Well done everyone else! Does this technically finishing the book FOR the New Year?
