Tae Kim Sentence Translation Problem.

#1
I can`t find anything anywhere on this so I`m sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I`m having trouble with this sentence:
お酒はす好というか、ないと生きていけない.

I understand the point that Tae Kim is trying to explain with the というか, but the 「ないと生きていけない」I just don`t get at all.

I know「...てはいけない」basically "Do not ..." but there is no は in the sentence above. I thought it might be a conjugation of いる but it`s not that. If it was a case of "being unable to live without" would 「ないと生きられない」not do?

I cannot find any other examples of いけない being used with the は particle so I`m a little stumped.

Any help would be great.

The structure being used is て-form+いく.

生きていく means "go on living". 生きていけない means "can't go on living".
