iKnow! Core 6K new word order...

#1
I'm trying out the iKnow! site and I like it for learning new words. I think I may use it for learning new words, but for long term review, I'll resort to anki. The word order in iKnow! has been changed since the site was called smart.fm. There are a few decks avalable, most notably the kore and Nukemarine's series of decks that have an optimized order. Does anyone have a deck or spreadsheet that matches the new iKnow! order exactly?

This is probably not helpful, but I doubt there's a spreadsheet floating around since it's copyrighted paid-for material and it's likely iKnow would be unhappy if the information was used elsewhere.

Otherwise, I don't think a lot of members here use it nor do I know of any spreadsheet out there that replicates the order exactly. Something you could do is go through a current (old) core6k deck and unsuspend the sentences in the order the new core6k goes through them.

iKnow does offer a couple weeks of membership now and again. Next time if they offer it up I'll check it out.

Last time I looked, they made the card decks larger. Never paid attention to the order though. Assuming it's the same, the anki decks I uploaded should have a field category for iKnow's original order (orig. index in the spreadsheet).

It may be claimed as copyright, but I ethically I might be against calling it "theirs" sicne back in smart.fm era they used a lot of crowdsourced material, so while the terms may have said "anything you upload is ours," I still don't think its theirs. I never used smart.fm that much either, so I don't know if they painted the picture that it would remain perpetually free. All I know is they opened the site up for free and then closed it up later and turned it paid for. They've also said on their forums that they really have no goal of expanding on the current core6k either. People had asked them to finish the Core10k they were working on and had up at one point but they've said they don't plan on it.

If it came to light that a lot of the core6k stuff was crowdsourced and not their own; I'd call the whole operation down right slimy.

the new word order is kind of irrelevant. just stick to the anki decks/nukemarine's version, since it's the same content. Imho the order is a bit weird (some things that I think are core2k material/grammar points keep popping up in core 5k+, stuff like 自主的 being a few courses before 自主, same for 掲示板 before 掲示 and many others) and not really vital.

vix, you're mixing them up a bit. There was a lot of crowdsourced material and custom courses back in the smart.fm days but all of it was deleted once iKnow switched to paid. The core 6k decks were made by Cerego and has nothing to do with those. Nothing from the crowdsourcing days remains on the site. *

According to the Cerego guys they're not moving on to core 10k because there aren't enough people worth making a core10k for (for now). Less than 100 people are studying core6k, with about 18 being at the last step (and only 30 having finished it already), compared to a few thousand paying users in the first 3k. I can't really blame them for focusing on the majority, though it's the reason why I'm not going to renew once my membership ends.

*actually I'm fairly sure the reason for which they don't allow users to share courses is because of the hundreds of people who started flaming about how their courses are going to be stolen by cerego once they go paid. I really hate that, btw, since I liked using people's custom courses =(.

Yeah, it was a shame as we made a very large series using the vocabulary entries from KO2001 that people liked. That took a lot of effort, and now it's gone. Not sure if anyone saved a downloaded version of that list.

Cangy, Can I get a copy of that spreadsheet? I've been looking for it. Much appreciated. I'll PM you my e-mail address.
