Damn WTH. Hope Thora decides to continue being active on this forum, she is a valuable contributor here imho.

I thought I had seen him in a post some days ago by Raschaverak, but it seems he's got lost again.

If you see him, send him my best wishes.
Actually I feel a bit responsible...I was the one asking about nest0r and Bodhi, and then the thread was opened....I've stepped into a nice calm puddle, and now it's a flood...it's like domino.

It has become a bit of a taboo subject, but you couldn't have known and it's not like you made Fabrice and Thora fight to the death.

@Fabrice: I respect that it's entirely your decision to make, but I think you've misjudged Thora. Rather than being passive aggressive, it seems to me like she was just trying to be polite. I guess sometimes those go hand in hand but I don't think this is one of those times.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not saying that some of what she posted wasn't out of line, just that she wasn't trying to piss you off. Obviously saying she wanted to avoid an argument and then writing a long post arguing for one side was absolutely ridiculous, but I think she was arguing to get her point across, rather trolling.

Thus is the fate of any thread mentioning nest0r.

I'm not so sure if it's the fate of a thread mentioning certain names or things, but this thread took the weirdest turn I've ever seen on this forum.

- Pessimism detected -

Remember the other post about learned optimism? There I mentioned something I read and mention the 3 aspects of explanatory styles. One of them is personalization, thinking that things are your personal fault, even when they aren't.

This is the same. The thread going wrong has nothing to do with you. You just were curious about something and made a question. That's common behavior. I didn't see you instigating people to act like gladiators or anything like that.

nest0r has a lot of cool pictures on his blog.

my hunch is that for all his talk, he didn't really study Japanese invalidating a lot of his advice, however sound half of his sources may be. Learning and the brain and language and so on is really not well understood yet, so I think at this point you get better results by emulating the methods of successful learners than trying to apply research.

EDIT: Oh, screw this. Pointless really.
