I hope it's not inappropriate to post this here. Recently I released an Android app that helps you learn how to write Japanese. It's very simple to use. You get questions in English and write the answer in Japanese on the touchscreen. The app will then tell you if you wrote correctly, taking into account stroke order etc.
It comes with a list of words you get quizzed on as well, and it uses spaced repetition for reviewing what you have learned.
On Android market there's a free version including hiragana and katakana and a paid version including kanji. There's also a promo page with some more information if you're interested.
