Japanese Food Connoisseurs Quiz: Japanese Food Localizations in Games

#1
Anyone here a Japanese food expert? These graphic sprites are from a Super Nintendo Kirby game. The top is the Japanese version. The bottom is the Western version. What are the names of the top row? Help me fill in the blanks.

Heheh... I got 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 9. 6 looked like either tenpura or katsudon to me.

Funny cos I think I've eaten taiyaki (10) before, or at least something similar.

I haven't eat that in years. I now believe that my believe that it was fish is wrong, and Fillanzea is correct.

9 of the bottom row looks like a Jammy Dodger to me.

I agree bottom-9 is a strawberry or raspberry filled cookie, but I wouldn't put a brand name on it, heh.

bottom #10 is not pudding, it's caramel-topped egg custard, most commonly known as flan:

I don't know what bottom #11 is, but I find peas very doubtful since it's wedged into a group of cookies, candies and desserts.

I also don't know what bottom #4 is, but for the same reason (or vice-versa) I find it unlikely 'slice of cake' would be there.

And bottom #6 is not chips, it's fries! Chips are thin, flat and round... will you British never get this straight? You keep mistaking 'chips' for 'crisps' and 'fries' for 'chips'! Smile

I think you'll find bottom #10 is a creme caramel not a flan. Will you Americans never get this straight?! Tongue

Flan
1) A baked dish consisting of an open-topped pastry case with a savory or sweet filling
2) A sponge base with a sweet topping.

We'll get it right when the Japanese stop calling it プリン。
