Are there any cheaper schools around the $20k areamore or less that one can attend? Im trying to go a full year in japan but am not super wealthy. I am aware of other expenses but having trouble finding the best cost for school. I'm sure others would be int interested as well. I am an English major and would make sure classes transfer back to my university after Ive found a few colleges that are at least a little more affordable. any help would be appreciated !!

There are plenty of American schools that have campuses in Japan. Temple university is one I know. If you are a resident of PA you can go to Temple university Japan for instate tuition prices!

Your tag says you're from Ohio, so I imagine there might be a school there that does something similar.

"Plenty"? What? A quick google turns up that Temple University and Columbia University are the only schools from the US that have a campus in Japan. So there are not "plenty" there are only two.

$20k is about the range for a year in Japan on most study abroad programs. If you have any schools in mind, you might try googling and see if there are any colleges in the US which have exchange programs through the university. You might then try emailing the school and seeing if they would let you go through their program. There are no guarantees they'll let you, not being a student and what not, but some programs lack students to go on them and might be more open to taking someone. You may not get credit for it though at your school.

Other then that, you will need to look at private programs. But still, unless you find a good school program (assuming they don't charge you out of state tuition or something), you will be paying in the range of $20k for a year abroad.
