True love is like Big Foot...

#1
This is the English written on a bag I saw in the 100 yen shop today:

Quote:True love is like Big Foot... Everybody talks about it, But nobody has every found it. Don't worry. I'm not gonna sell you to an ear-duster. You are my Big Foot!

詩的で、崇高で、 抽象的に書かれて。。。でも、ちょっと待てコラァっ! EAR DUSTER!!! なんじゃこりゃ!!!

It's pretty cool up until the ear duster part.

according to ALC, ear-duster comes out as American slang for "a gossip". so maybe they were trying to use that? still, makes no sense and is completely bonkers. = great Smile

the sweatshirt was from Bulldog. The dog shirt was from a second hand shop called "Shooting Star" that was across the street from Seiyu. But i think it went out of business (or maybe moved) cause it's not there anymore. (;_Wink

I just had an image of someone working as an ear-duster. Bit like those shoe shine people you see in subways etc, except they'd dust your ears for you :|

Well, you can pay people to pick the wax out of your ears. That's sort of like an ear duster... Some salons in Japan offer that as one of their services, while some middle eastern countries have people that do it on the street for a fee, much like shoe shiners.

My girlfriend always liked to pick the wax from my ears, although there was never very much. Westerner's wet ear wax doesn't pile up much compared to the crusty stuff of asians.

Is that true?? I can't believe there is a different in genetics that makes Asian people have more ear wax.

I'm not sure about quantity, but I remember hearing at some point that there are two types of earwax, "wet" and "dry", and that one is more common among Asians while the other is more common among Caucasians and Africans. Maybe one type is easier to remove or accumulates more or something?

wikipedia Wrote:Earwax in whales

Many species of whale have an annual buildup of earwax, adding one, two, or four layers (depending upon the species) each year. Similar to the incremental dating method of dendrochronology for trees, the number of layers can be counted to determine the age of the whale after its death.

Maybe it's the environment. Humidity or something. I'd never been concerned with ear wax before, it always just did it's own thing, but this year I've had no end of issues. Even had to go to the Drs to have them cleaned :|
