The game itself(from what I remember and what I've seen from watching it in japanese is). The story is abstract and is hard to follow at times. Then again, in general it was fun to play but the game I enjoyed a lot was star ocean 3. The story for that game was good but after a while, it just turned upside down (if you played it, you will know what I mean). Other than that, it's a fun/long game to play. I wouldn't recommend trying to max them out or anything, that would take forever....
Yeah, most things aren't as good as the originals, but there's a line of quality where you don't play the new ones, haha. Like, Final Fantasy VII was great, but Dirge of Cerberus is way below the line of quality of a game you would want to play.

Xenosaga is bad enough compared to a lot of other RPGs that were coming out for the PS2 that even as a Xenogears fanboy I couldn't bring myself to play through it.

I liked Star Ocean 3 when I played it, but I only played the first 15 hours or so. I think I got it along with 3 or 4 other games at the end of high school, and when I went to college my gaming time went way down and I never got around to finishing it. I'll finish it one day if I ever have time. Really, for the next eight years I don't see myself having time to play more than one RPG a year, if I go back to school as planned. So there's stiff competition for my RPG time--as things are now I've played through just one RPG in the last three years. I used to play through maybe five a year.
Same here, I don't have as much time I used to. It's not because of school it's because of work. I'm either working or at school. I'm rarely at home nowadays. It's interfering my Japanese learning a lot now. I got a lot of jp games of the PSN store but I barely have anytime to play them. I'll probably eave one of my jobs, so I can at least have time to relax and do other stuff

Anyhow, you should get to playing it if you can, it's a good game but definitely a long one. This summer I'll probably buy the game in japanese and play it soon.

i used to play every RPG when it came out back in the SNES/PSX days, beating them within a week, now i can barely finish one over the course of a year.

even though the vocab is complicated that doesn't mean it's better to learn. some of this stuff doesn't make sense in english either. i don't even know what "time compression" from FF8 is, i don't think i want to know what it is in Japanese nor do i think it will be very helpful =)
lol i know what it is in English, so learning it in Japanese works too. Well the way i see things now is, if it's in context, then learning it won't be bad for you.
