From my limited knowledge of Japanese history and culture, it seems to me that despite the influence of Buddhism, the popular philosophy in Japan tends to lean more towards the fatalistic (仕方がない etc) than the West which tends to value free will. What do you guys think? It's a subject that interests me, but I haven't been able to find much information on it...
