After finish Mario & Luigi RPG I decided to play FFVI using a GBA emulator.
I played a bit of Golden Sun, but it has too many hiragana, I think it has more hiragana than Mario & Luigi RPG. Since I am going to 1000 kanji in RTK (978 now) and I will try 2kyuu on December, I want to play something with more kanji...
Final Fantasy VI for GBA let you chose between hiragana or kanji, maybe because in Japan youngs don't know all the kanji and readings. Well, I choosed kanji, even I cannot read lots of things... As I did in Mario & Luigi Rpg, I will play and take screenshots that I use for collect sentences and put into mu SRS (Anki). I will try to keep a record of my sentence picking here at this thread, so anyone can use my sentences. Unfortunately, I will not offer translations here, since english is not my native language.

Anyone can read 魔導? I didn't find in the dictionary. Also
I think it is まどう,kind of 魔法指導(mahou shidou)...
Another difficult word is 幻獣, I found out a wiki explanation...
幻獣(げんじゅう)とは、実在しない伝説上の生物のこと。
Kind of legendary monster.

There's a torrent floating around with every SNES rom, including the Japanese versions. Try mininova maybe? I don't remember where I found it. If you're looking for one in particular I can probably just send it to you. As long as it's for educational purposes, that is!

I'd like to remind everyone that the forum does not condone sharing of copyrighted material and other illegal downloads, and posting links to such websites in the public forums is not acceptable.
Please use the member's profile and email-via-forum if you want to trade links and such.
It's not so much the links themselves which bother me but the fact that people searching for downloads end up in these posts by way of Google indexation and then create new posts on this forum for the sole purpose of requesting files. So please share links via email or just point the direction and let people find what they want, thanks.

Sorry about that. I always just feel like there's some secret club where everyone is getting all these great learning materials. I'll be sure to ask in private if I have anymore questions about it.

Also remember that the thread is about the game dialogs, not "where can I find the roms etc".

...Sorry... I won't post any download links.
But really, the OP mentioned emulation, and it is my understanding that people are downloading Japanese books and courses and audiobooks right and left here.

I saved more sentences, here is it with coments...
ガード「炭坑の守りを固めろ!」
"守りを固めろ" is a very interesting expression.
「情報によれば、新たに掘った炭坑から氷づけの幻獣が出てきたらしい?ということはこの奥か?」
"掘った炭坑"
「俺たちがやる。下がっていろ!」
I didn't know the kanji for "sagaru"
なかに不気味な?!
"不気味" another interesting word.
氷づけになったモンスターは怪しげな光を放ち始めた?。
Here there are two kanji I know the meaning (by RTK) but did not know the readings: 怪 and 放
これをつけられれば、その者の思考は止まり人の意のままに動くようになる。
I did know the reading for 思考
老人「大丈夫。時間が経てば記憶を戻るはずじゃ。」
Easy expression and very useful: 時間が経てば
帝国に操られていた
生まれながらに魔導の力を持つ
謎の少女?
Hard time here with two words: 操られて and 謎. The first I know by RTK, the second seems sth like "fushigi". Anyone know?
そいつは帝国の手先だぞ!!
"手先"
If anyone have coments, yoroshiku!

the first as the Heisig keyword describes means to maneuver (If im not mistaken that is) and means that the country where the girl is born is controlled by a 帝国 = "empire".
the second is なぞ (謎) and means riddle. it's used a lot on TV here. In this instance "mysterious (不思議)girl" would seem appropriate.
so the whole last part says:
a mysterious girl born with (the gift of) magical powers in an empire controlled country
looks like your finding some cool stuff. keep it up!

Nice! The only thing I can add is that 操られた is passive, so the girl is the one controlled/manipulated by the empire.

I am typing the sentences... not using a script.
But I take screenshots while a play I study they after. Actually, search words and type the sentences into a SRS is a very good study, even it takes a long time. Well, in the end I will have hundreads of screenshots and will just start another game, as I did with Mario & Luigi RPG. But I still learning! The problem as I was saying, is that you dont want to spend your time looking and studying sentences, instead you want to play the game, because you can understand enough to keep playing...

I hope you don't mind if I add one of mine:
選ばれた者のみが使うことのできる神聖な力だ。
I understand all of the words, but this sentence is really difficult for me to read quickly. In particular, 使うことのできる instead of 使える - it feels like running in circles. Not likely to come up in conversation, but I thought it was an interesting sentence.

Using 使える is quite a simple form. But the phase ことのできる in this sentance is to emphasis that only the ones chosen can use the power, and that it is not an easy thing to do.
