windows 7 japanese font differences?

#1
i just upgraded from xp to 7 recently and i've noticed some kanji characters look kind of different and odd. like 卿. the middle radical has a little mark on top like in 食 and at the bottom, instead of kicking up like an elbow its just two straight lines going to the right like the bottom right of 罪. i've noticed several other kanji have similarly odd looking differences too. does anyone know what this is and how to change it back to normal?

It's just the another form the character, don't worry. You'll see plenty of those in native material. Maybe try using another IME like Google's. Wink

I use Debian (linux) on computer and Android on phone, so I also get slight variants of different characters. it's just a matter of the particular font that is used, I bet the japanese don't care about that much, since they don't pay attention to such details and also see many more variations of writing in daily life

Just change your browser/word processing fonts until they display kanji the way you want Smile

In my experience that's the most common form of the character, regardless of font.
