It turns out I'll probably be flying out to Japan for an interview in a couple of weeks. It's in Tokyo. Shibuya to be more exact. I'll be spending most of my time at the company, as if I was working there, but I'll need a place to crash.

If anyone's got any suggestions, I'm open to pretty much anything.

join http://www.couchsurfing.org, make a cute and awesome profile(with pictures!) and send couchrequests to people who look nice. Most people say what area they live in so you can find a place in Shibuya quite easily =). Since you won't be having any references and tokyo is busy with tourists, expect to send about 5-10 requests before getting a Yes.

(couchsurfing etiquette 101: do not send copy-paste like requests, and try to be interested in the person you'll be staying at aside from his/her couch. Try to send one request at a time and only send another if you haven't gotten an answer in 24 hours or have received a decline. Once you get there, spare at least half an hour chatting with your host. Maybe buy him/her dinner, coffee or what not. I like doing their dishes.)

edit: if not, hostelworld found 2 places in shibuya, but they're like 50 euro per night for a single.

You could also look for host families. Some are willing to take guests or students for shorter periods of time -- especially if you specify what company you will be at. 2 years ago, the fee tended to be around 3500-4000 yen a day, including meals (well, breakfast and supper anyway). This option might be pretty useful if you should have questions about work ethics or proper behaviour in that given environment.
