Just a thought, you know?
Since I've started learning JP, I had this thought.. "Would it make it fun to do it with a partner?"
I honestly think it would? You could always converse with them, and if you didn't understand something, you could bug them about it.
Same thing with a group study, (Say on skype or something? A big group chat?)
Would that be a mighty fine idea~? Someone else motivating me would make wonders, other then Twitter. Anyone up for it?

It's been a while since you posted here, but I hope you see this...

Finding someone like this can be really hard, there's quite a lot that has to 'click' - you should ideally be at about the same level of Japanese, have about the same level of motivation, you should both be non-prone to jealousy and you should be able to like each other in general. Otherwise there is a considerable risk that one of you will be annoyed by the other because they don't seem to be as "into it", or because they want to chat in English too often, or because they're doing so much better and making much more progress.

That said, you could try going to this irc chat and see if you like it, I know some people have found friends like this on lang-8, too. You could also write in this thread about how many hours/week you spend learning Japanese and how much you know right now to give others some idea of whether it might be worth trying to become your partner.
