Create 3D models with your camera

This is just very cool... take some thirty or forty pictures of an object, have the pictures sent to a server and some minutes later get a 3D model back.

I think this is great because it works kind of similar to how the human mind extracts 3D information from objects. Some years and you'll have it in every smart... device, I'd say (you can't call that a phone anymore).

So you don't have to model something awkwardly before you have it sent to shapeways... this is 3D colour copy for the masses - i love it.

Am I the only one that's bothered by the rug made from human skin?

The 3d is impressive though...

Haha...

You can export obj.-files via selecting points and "Export Scene as...", so you can work with the model in Blender for example...

Now combine that with crowd-sourced photos and google earth.

I'd like to see that functionality built into a tablet device capable of running maya.

Actually Google could start using their Street view pictures and calculate real 3D. But I think they are waiting for computing power to become cheaper and want to use drones to clone entire earth. Kind of frightening... isn't it?

Ups, sorry. That's 123D Catch from Autdesk. You have to install a software and register via Email.
