grrr... I had a previous (better) version of core 10k that had the core6k and core2k tagged so that I was able to delete them. I installed this 10k deck to see if it's better and the old one turned into this! Moreover timemachine's retrieved old 10k decks have also all turned into this one! wtf squared...
this sucks. really don't want to start with かれ は やさしい 人 です.
anyone know what i'm talking about re the tags? i think i got it from the anki public server... but it's not available anymore apparently.

Isn't everything with a Masterindex of -1 or -2 from Core 10k minus Core6k?

If you want the sentences and words that are not in Core 2K/6K, select the cards with MasterIndex of -1 or with empty values.
Just sort the cards by MasterIndex, and then you can suspend or delete the cards you don't want/need.

Is the Uindex the proper order to learn these in then, or should I sort by MasterIndex?
EDIT: Also, if I sort by Uindex why does it jump from 9619 to 10001, 10002, 11783, 13068, 14100, and end there?

You'll want to sort by Uindex to see the learning order that the JSensei app uses.
Katsuo populated the Uindex so it matched the JSensei app. The Uindex numbering goes out of sequence after 9619 because the JSensei app has 9619 facts, but there were five extra sentences in the data files.

So I've caved in and decided to SRS pre-made sentences again (no time to watch anything at home, but the occasional slow moment at work...). I suppose the remaining 4k sentences from the Core10Kv4 deck would be best because I already have the audio from Jsensei.
But I seem to have a problem with that deck -- I can open and even review, but whenever I click the Card layout button, the sound plays and Anki crashes. Anybody else come across this? Am I missing something? I vaguely remember reading something years ago about the 'munged' filenames...
Alternatively, does anybody have the spreadsheet for that deck so that I can recreate it from scratch?
EDIT: OK, I figured it out... had to disable the Japanese support plugin, open the deck, and re-enable the plugin. Don't know why, but that worked.

Thank you so much for your work and collaboration.
Now, is this a deck for Anki 1.x or Anki 2?
Due to time limitations, all of my studying is "on the fly", using a cell phone. I have been studying with Nukemarine's Optimized deck for a while now (and plan to continue), so I don't need Core 6000. However, I am very interested in the final 4000 you have put into this deck.
I have successfully downloaded the files, and see that the media folder has over 19,000 files. I presume that most of them are Core 6000.
Now that Anki 2 mixes all the media files together into one big directory, since I already have the media files to Core 6000 in there, duplicating the same files under different names starts getting insane for use on a cell phone or tablet (Android) with limited space.
What media files should I exclude in order to remove the Core 6000 media files from this deck. I see they are all numbered "js00001.mp3" and "jw00001.mpe".
Presuming that this is an Anki 1.x file, would simply excluding js00001.mp3 to js06000.mp3 and jw00001.mp3 to mw06000.mp3 then leave me with only the media files for the extra 4000 cards, which I could then import into Anki 2 (after excluding the Core 6000 cards as well)? Would I be able to end up with a "4000 deck" this way?
Thank you !

Hi Isshin,
overture2112 is the one that ripped the content from the JSensei app, so if anyone is the creator, it's overture2112.
The version from depositfiles is in Anki 1.x format, I believe.
I already forgot how to use Anki 1.x. If I recall, there was a "remove unused media" option that would delete any media that wasn't in use by a card, so that should do the trick.
In Anki 2, you can just go to Tools > Maintenance > Unused Media.
