I hear this all the time, what does it mean: 我ながらなさけない

我ながらなさけない...

it sounds soo cool like something from a anime, but what does it mean? Is this sentence still used today? or is it more for books. here is the sample i found:

聞いたそばから忘れてしまうなんて、我ながらなさけない。

One more question: What does this mean:


兄弟子をとても尊敬している。

isnt deshi mean someone who you dont like? Various dictionaries showed many meanings. Thanks in Advance!!!

我ながら われながら even if I say so myself; for me (to do such a thing)
情ない なさけない (adj-i) miserable; pitiable; shameful; deplorable

兄弟子 あにでし senior schoolmate; senior apprentice

I think it's worth pointing that rikaichan gets hits for those three words/phrases. In fact... rikaichan's definitions bear a striking resemblance to yudantaiteki's response...
