Expensive.

Japan is a great country to travel to, if you got the money in the bank to do it. Also, does anybody else get the feeling that everyone there is mooching off their parents WAAAY too much? Seems like the Japanese have adopted the entitlement attitude to me.

But isn't said mooching done with the expectation of 親孝行 in the future?

My current opinion of Japan is that I'm glad I'm not there at the moment and that I live in a country with central heating.

the worst part that anything Japanese in the US seems to have an extra Japan tax.
Ramen is only 800 yen there but it's $11 here =(

in that context traveling isn't so bad...

I know gyuudon isn't fancy or anything, but I wish we had something that cheap here that wasn't McDonalds.

Since you save about £16 buying a pack of tomatoes and a peach here, you should have enough to compensate for the inflated Japanese restaurant prices once in a while Wink

Not nearly as big as square-enix, but more towards my own personal interests. If things go smoothly, I could be a mobile developer making language-learning software.

Although, it starts with a 3 month trial period, and I don't know if I'd want to give up my more-or-less secure full-time job I have now for something that might not work out :/

Of course $11US only buys you 857yen at today's exchange rate. I'm sure you'd only waste that 57yen anyway...

Be thankful you don't live in Melbourne where everything costs a billion dollars. I'ma be eating out every meal and filling a suitcase with new clothes when I'm in Japan in 2 weeks simply because in Japan, I can actually afford to do that!

Eating out in Japan is actually very reasonable.
