Was reading some Dalai Lama quotes today in English for some inspiration and figured, why not try reading some Japanese translations?

I really enjoy reading these quotes because it reminds me that while you can immerse yourself in anything, you have to be cognizant of how any given resource can affect how you learn to think and express yourself in that language. So, as great of a resource as something like Nico Nico is for getting into contact with real Japanese from natives, if you go around talking crap about everything and everyone of course you're going to have social problems because, well, you shouldn't be learning how to speak your mind from a faceless place where people can say anything without fear of being socially reprimanded. Anyway, I digress.

So while I'm not going to memorize any of these quotes to recite to anyone, I will be Anki-ing them to help motivate me a bit each morning Big Grin

Do you have inspirational sites or books you'd recommend?

Pretty cool! I must admit that I do like browsing through http://www.meigensyu.com when I'm bored. Before I started immersion I used brainyquote.com a lot, so I was happy to find a Japanese quote database site!
