Best book for...

...communication? Out of all courses out there (Japanese for busy people, Japanese for Everyone, Intergrated Approach, Nakama, J501 etc), which one do you think is the best one with conversational emphasis?

Studying grammar, vocab, and prepping for JLPT is nice, but right now I'm looking for a course that'd be mostly communication-oriented, with a well-rounded vocab pool. Drills are boring, but if the get a job done - bring'em on. Formal and business Japanese is even better.

Advice? Thanks!

Edit: level-wise I'm at N3-N2, but all of it is mostly passive knowledge.

I've only ever used one conversation textbook, 聞く・考える・話す 留学生のための初級にほんご会話, it starts from basics though so I don't know if it's suitable if you're around N3-N2. I found it very useful though. For business/formal Japanese I'm currently looking at Japanese for Professionals.

Most of the stuff at beginner level is so general that it applies to conversation as well as written material. The split between written grammar and verbal grammar doesn't really happen until around N2. So most beginner level textbooks are doing a fine job of prepping you for conversation as long as you make a point to practice conversation.

There's no magic bullet for it. You need to do it. You need to struggle with it. You need to fail, and you need to keep going. Eventually at some point maybe you won't feel like you're garbage at it.
