Having trouble understanding sentence (~せい grammar)

#1
Hi everyone,

I'm looking through a Japanese-only grammar book (耳から覚える: 日本語能力試験2級文法トレーニング) and most of the sentences are pretty easy to understand with a dictionary. However, I'm having trouble understanding the sentence below. I understand the basic meaning of ~せい(で), but am having trouble seeing what it means here:

彼女は何でも人のせいにするから嫌われている。

Also not understanding what から means here. All I can assume is that the sentence means something like "She's disliked by everyone." Can anyone give me breakdown?

Thanks!

人のせいにする = to blame on others

"She blames everything on others so she's disliked."

What may have thrown you off is that 人 often means "other people". Xにする means "to make something X" or sometimes "to decide on X".

Yeah, I'm familiar with Xにする being part of Vことにする, but I wasn't thinking of it like "other people's fault" + "to decide on".

in this case, it's not decide on. It's like 彼女は(She,)何でも(no matter what)ひとの(other people's)せい(fault) に する(make)

She makes everything other people's fault = She blames others for everything

Okay, that would make more sense as a breakdown. Thank you, everyone! Big Grin
