ahhhhh it's so true!
anime cons are exactly like this!
IceCream Wrote:how do you pronounce weeaboo? i've never actually heard it in real life...I'd think /we-uh-boo/ is the only pronunciation that would make sense.
IceCream Wrote:how do you pronounce weeaboo? i've never actually heard it in real life...I definitely remember hearing it from one guy on YouTube. He pronounced it /ˈwiːəbuː/, and Wiktionary agrees with that pronunciation. But then again, I'm pretty sure I've also heard it pronounced /ˈwiːbuː/ or even /ˈweɪbuː/. I guess to people who haven't seen the original cartoon it's kinda like "pwn" - a previously nonsensical Internet-spawned word that has no correct pronunciation because it isn't intended to be used offline.
IceCream Wrote:how do you pronounce weeaboo? i've never actually heard it in real life...Probably because most people who use that word don't actually have a real life.
Sebastian Wrote:(笑)Yeah, I've been called that so many times by people on the internet whenever they learned I knew Japanese, and /or liked anime. Some people just seem to have no life, besides using childish insults for anyone who doesn't take an interest in their race's popular culture (They think I should only like music done by other Caucasians? Really?) as much as they "should". I'm glad I stopped visiting those kinds of forums.IceCream Wrote:how do you pronounce weeaboo? i've never actually heard it in real life...Probably because most people who use that word don't actually have a real life.

If that dies, search for "J-pop America Fun Time Now" on Google.

I wouldn't mind visiting it there. Then again, I'm not the type of person to dress up and discuss anime/manga like crazy.
I remember feeling kind of embarrassed once when I was leaving an anime store, and there were these teenagers sitting around outside the store dressed up like Kingdom Hearts characters. And it wasn't Halloween.
My friends know that I like anime, and listen to J-rock and K-pop. However, I've learned from past experience - people do not want to hear you talk about anime incessantly.
All that being said, that video was hilarious, and so, so true.
