Anyone download it? It's free and in full Japanese. I have yet to play it but it's patched and ready for when I get the chance.

I installed Windows just to play this game. I rebooted about 300 times after 20 service packs and 93 billion updates. Then, the game took 4 hours to download, failed during the patching 3 times which restarted from the beginning each time, and then it worked. But it was down for server maintenance.

Took about 60 hours, but I'm playing it now. Sadly, the language is much too difficult for me. I thought I had learned my share of words by now Oh well. I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'll just hope nobody tries to talk to me while I mash buttons.

i'm looking forward to playing the finished version... the exp and stuff doesn't carry over from the beta right?..or does it?

Don't know much about computer specs but I can guess that my shit laptop can't run it well anyway Been thinking about how playing Japanese MMO's would be awesome, and I played the non-Japanese PSO1 beta and loved it.

It's gonna be down for maintenance for a while it seems.

Download the character creator (direct link). The bumped.org site that s0apgun linked has some very good guides. This guide covers the character creator and explains some game settings that can help you get better performance. There's a performance benchmark included that you can run (with your custom character in it if you make one) to get a good idea of what to expect.

A lot of the infrastructure has collapsed under load in the last few weeks. They were really caught off-guard by the massive response. I guess that's what beta testing is for. I think they're doing serious capacity upgrades right now (27 hour maintenance!).

for some reason every time I click 環境設定 it causes it to crash. Any idea what is causing this?

So what are you guys playing as? I made a hunter and have played for a couple of hours, realized now that it seems you can only have one character for free? I wanted to try a ranger too Might start over.

You can change your class at the blue desk in the main hall (the npc in the middle).

I gotta say I'm quite addicted to this game already... I normally don't even play a lot of online-style games, however I was a huge Phantasy Star Online addict 10 or so years ago. I'm so glad that this game is staying so close to the original

Played through until the Lobby. I'm playing the ranger and it's kind of annoying to have to be pointed in the right way to shoot that way- there must be some way to lock on so that I can move and shoot.

The game itself is pretty good but its tutorials suck...

Well the tutorial was short at least, and I myself found the manual aim purely by coincidence, as a hunter no less.

The game looks interesting (no more trying and failing to force myself to play some grinder MMO), it's slightly boring solo though. Maybe I'll have to finally talk to someone to form a party, or failing that, I'll just invite some RL friends. Hopefully I'll do the former.

If anyone wants to group together- I'd be up for it sometime today. I'm captal or mujyaki - not sure which you search by- account or char name.

Thanks for the Q key advice- the tutorial didn't say anything about it and I didn't look through the key bindings to figure it out.

Oh, and that wouldn't have had any negative impacts in the long run as compared to starting a new character? I noticed that counter but I didn't think about seeing if I could change. Made a new character anyway because I didn't like the appearance...
edit: I know there's a counter where you can change some of your appearance too, but I wanted to make a different character altogether.

That would be cool but we have to be on the same server though, don't we? I mean the "ship" you select before you get to the character select screen. I just went with the one on top of the list, might have been a mistake though because so many people are on it and sometimes it won't let me log in.
