Classroom Useful Japanese

#1
Hello Kanji Koohii

I just recently started teaching English here in Japan and my Japanese is still in diapers. I am not required to speak Japanese but I think it would be useful if I could say a few things in Japanese to speed up the pace of the class, specially after I've said it in English 2 or 3 times already to no avail and the assistant teacher had to step in and translate for everyone.

These are some sentences that I think could be useful to me, but please feel free to add your own ideas / opinions and maybe this thread can become a modest resource to other teachers in the same boat.

1. Go to page [10, 20, 30…]

2. Open / Close your student book / workbook.

3. Let's do exercise [1, 2, 3]

4. Now, listen and practice (repeat the words).

5. First, I ask a question, then you answer.

6. Trace the letters / words.

7. Use small / big letters.

8. Choose from here / this list.

9. Copy from here to here.

10. Anything is ok.

11. Whatever you like / want.

12. What's this in Japanese?

13. Repeat after me.

14. Come on, don't be shy.

15. You are doing great, don't worry.

16. You are very good.

17. Listen to the CD.

18. Did you do your homework?

19. Please ask if you don't understand.

20. This is important.

Maybe I am missing a lot of other important things, but that looks like a good start to me. Would you help?

Thanks in advance.
