Why is the け is there? is it acting as a particle?

ほしけりゃ is a shortened version of ほしければ

edit: interestingly, the furigana in your image shows は, which is wrong.

欲しければ　can be "abbreviated" as 欲しけりゃ

In general, all i-adjectives in ば form can be treated like that and also the verbs but it is more a spoken and quite casual way:

急がないといけない (standard way) I have to hurry up.

急がなけりゃ (abbreviated way)
急がなきゃ (more abbreviated way)

Note that in this case, the expression means obligation or need but it can be also a normal ば conditional like in the phrase you give: 欲しけりゃくれてやるぜ is the same as 欲しければくれてやるぜ "If you want it, I can give it to you."

I was confused about the ば form but now I understand what's going on.

I was confused by the furigana too... wonder if it's a typo or some kind of regional dialect..

That's a ほ; you can see the top stroke faintly -- sometimes the furigana in printing isn't completely clear. But if it were は the cross stroke would be higher up on the right side.

I want to clarify this to avoid confusion -- ないといけない and なければならない are two different constructions; they have very similar meanings, but なけりゃ is a contraction of なければ (with the ならない dropped).

Where did you get the image from. It is very small. At first I thought it was merry a description of the feeling of the creator, but the phrase is very common. It is doesn't seem to be a various on Japanese. So, your guess is as good, if not better, than mine.
