Wow, those clips are really clear and easy to hear so far. Looks like good stuff, to me!

I guess these are useful to learn... if you spend most of your time in 秋葉原, haha. (It's not that I'm throwing in with the crowd that thinks it isn't good to learn from anime. It's that a lot of these clips are over-the-top moe stuff)

Though, I admit, I love the line about the ponytail from Suzumiya Haruhi. Granted, showing it outside of the show kind of ruins it for people who will watch it through later. Although, overall, Suzumiya Haruhi was pretty mediocre. I never read the books or manga.

@Tzadeck You're right, it is mostly over top moe stuff haha. Thanks for pointing that out actually. I'm not sure how aware of that I was myself haha. If you have any suggestions for particular anime, I'd love to hear that too ~~

@wccrawford Glad you like it Big Grin

you know, this is what I wanted to do when I created my new accounts(probably happen later this year). It works because there short clips+subtitled+translated(even better). But I might widen the scope abit. Songs, games, movies, shows, etc.

Super Media Learning with TA12121

I'd like to see clips from more dramas and or variety shows. AKA real people speaking. I know anime is real people but i don't FEEL it is real. dramas and variety shows are just my personal favorite media to learn from because people are having conversations. Songs are artistic and don't lend themselves to conversation but are good for descriptive words much like novels are. and Games I just don't really play but I might play if it was in Japanese I guess. I used to play online mmorpg when I was a kid.

Sounds good. Basically a variety of media ranging from: anime, games, dramas, variety shows, movies, songs, news, etc. It also adds to your knowledge to learn from different contexts/media.

Super Media Learning, I might just use that in the future.

I'm thinking of making categories like "Super Media Learning" (yea just got that from you right now). Plus the "Master Series" for reading, listening, kanji(for now). But later on it will include speaking/writing(written form+any other forms). That would be 6 categories there. Plus I'll add a Q/A section and that adds up to 7. So far I will make 10 different categories for sure.

I'll will be(soon) creating a website/blog+3 other accounts(facebook,twitter,youtube) for the "Master Series"

Personally anime is just fun to watch/listen to+read(manga). It's a fun learning material but it also means one does have to branch off to other materials. I still keep up with bleach+naruto every-week. But I also like reading news/songs,etc. It all adds up later

Yeah you can use Super Media Learning that's cool just send some traffic my way when I make my Study abroad blog for my school. =D I have the name saved but haven't worked on the blog yet to make it presentable.

@ta12121

I totally agree. Even though I have a strong bias to anime, other forms of media definitely deserve to be turned into juicy learning material. The blog is still new, so stuff outside anime isn't outside the question.

I'm also looking for to whatever you make ta12121 ~

I'm planning quite a lot. It's still in the brainstorming stage but once I have most of the things ready on my end. I will post more info on this blog and ask people to give me feedback on what should I do exactly. I will create a ta12121 Thread where I will post all this(since it's related to me).

But a small glimpse of what to expect is: Super Multimedia Learning, Master Series, Q/A, Kanji Master Series(sub-category).

To break it down: Super Multimedia(media) Learning will break down to videos with transcripts ranging from songs,movies,talk-shows,animes,games,trailers,etc. I'll explain how exactly to use this to master reading and listening (95% of main media you come by

Master Series will include: Master reading, listening(initial) and after a while it will include Master writing/speaking.

Q/A Section, any questions that you may have you can ask me in this section. I'll try my best to answer most questions but I will make another section explaining any essential things(grammar, speaking, reading, listening, etc). So if I've answered it before, I will direct you to it or potentially not answer(not because I'm mean but because it would take a lot of time)

my biggest problem is I can't honestly find any J-dramas that I like. :\ then again i'm not really a fan of dramas in english either. I'd prefer Scifi or comedy but i suspect those would be harsh on a low level beginner lol (god help me with JP comedy.....pun-o-riffic....). For now, I mainly just watch quiz shows and news shows via keyhole tv while i do other work (starving artist and all...). or listen to jp talk radio when i'm working on reviews, etc. I think once my vocab has built up more i'll be more comfortable with those shows though.

Might as well give up looking now. There aren't any worth watching. (I know a lot of people on the forum like J-dramas, but I will never understand)

you should try playing jp games. They use high-level vocab that even I have trouble with. I was just playing parasite eve in jp (bought it off of the psn store) and the talk about biology/evolution/science terms. Plus there is no audio(speaking), so the game is for people who are near-fluent or fluent(reading wise).

haha, i don't really watch j-dramas to begin with. I have watched gokusen which was fun at first but it was the same old stuff over time. I do like some j-movies which are interesting to watch but they are old-style(samurai,old-japan,etc)

oh i have a few games i'm going to do on DS to help with high beginner levels. a few of the zelda games, and dragon quest IX at some point, i'm more just tired of hearing about J-drama being *the* way to learn japanese lol.
