Is there going to be an updated Remembering the Kanji 2 book to include the new Joyo-Kanjis in the next 6 months?
I'm studying the updated RtK1 and hopefully I'll be starting RtK2 on Feb 2012...

"Thank you for your mail. The preparation of vol. 2 to bring it up to date with vol. 1 has taken longer than expected—too many other duties in the way. I now have an assistant helping me with the final check and hope to have it to the publishers next month. I will put your name down on the list of people to inform when a publication date has been set.
Vol. 3 will take a little longer, but before it is completed a new database for the iPod/iPad app (http://itunes.apple.com/app/remembering-...71278?mt=8 ) will be going to the programmers in Tokyo, reflecting all the changes inn vols. 1 and 2.

Thanks for the info.

Katsuo kindly prepared a spreadsheet of the new jouyou kanji* which include a Japanese vocabulary word for each. You could just supplement the current version of RTK2 with this. (Bonus: figuring out if a kanji has a phonetic component, etc. would likely imprint its reading in your mind.)

However, I'll be starting with RtK 2 after 6 months, so I suppose by that time both the book and the software will be updated

I've contacted the author again, and he said that it might be available around 1st of May, just at the time when I'm planning to start using the book. I'm currently working on KO2001 after finishing RtK1 last month
