Watching the World Cup Final? (Japan vs. USA)

#1
Are there places to watch this online? If there's a copyright concern, perhaps you can just clue me in on general search tips/streaming sites?

I wouldn't mind watching the previous matches, but doesn't seem like anyone's put them up.

Edit: Found this: http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2011/7/17...fifa-uswnt

Here is a live stream for you. http://www.ard.de/static/frauenwm_2011/jpn_usa.html It should be online in about 20 minutes.

It's on the BBC, possibly UK only though.

Unfortunately many streaming have had their domain names seized by the US government. Here's an article about a site trying to get their domain back, because it's legal in Spain where they're based:

Thanks, looks like this one isn't as hard to find as I thought it might be.

Japan's not being aggressive enough in exchanges, plus they're a bit incoherent towards the goal.

Edit: Soon as I posted that they started tightening things up and being more aggressive.

So they run up and down the field for 2 hours, but the game is decided by penalty kicks...

Watching how fast the grass grows on the field is almost as exciting. I tried to force myself to become a fan by watching the Japanese men's run at the World Cup last year, but I just can't fake it.

Me too -- I love football and basketball, and I even enjoy watching golf and bicycle racing (at least the Tour de France), but I've just never been able to get into soccer.

In some ways the beauty of football (soccer) is the way that a game is often decided by just one bit of luck/skill. At the same time this can make it pretty boring if you're not particularly interested in who wins.

I guess in the end it comes down to which sports you know the background and rules to and so have an interest in. Equally for me American football, basketball and baseball are incredibly boring, but maybe it would be different if I had a greater appreciation of the tactics involved.

What a great game. The goals by both teams were spectacularly executed.

As mutley said, football is enjoyable to watch because it is usually so evenly matched. Even a lower 3rd division team playing a top premiership club can defend and stop any goals being scores; the enjoyment is watching the attacks and defensive moves, NOT the goals!
That's why it's entirely possible to have an extremely exciting match that ends up 0-0!

Also because there are so few goals, either team could end up winning just on a fluke, so that makes it more exciting too - the best team doesn't always win. Makes it even more exciting.

That said, football does seem to be designed to watch with mates, especially in a pub. You can chat / joke around during the boring bits, or go to the bar and order more drinks! Smile
