I'm not sure. I still haven't finished the first one. I certainly don't think it was a bad game, but I do enjoy having sidequests and NPC interaction, which is basically non-existent in FF13. If they change those things and make it more of an open world to explore, the chances of me getting it are much higher.

I'll get it because it's Final Fantasy. Even if I don't like it.
After all, it's Final Fantasy.

I'm with jishera, if there's a less linear world (world map please!) then I might get it.

I haven't finished it either, mainly because I got sick of the grind. The first 12 or so chapter had no grind (except for 1 spot that I couldn't find any other way to get strong enough to pass... Was probably doing something wrong) but the massive grind-fest in the last levels just put me off. I'll eventually pick it up and continue, but I certainly won't buy 13-2 until I have finished 13.

I too haven't finished XIII yet (and unfortunately I had to leave my PS3 behind on the move to Japan so won't any time soon :/), and while it's a nice movie, it lacks.. well.. gameplay. It's not necessarily bad, but it certainly isn't engaging due to it's mechanics. Doubt I'd played it at all if it wasn't in Japanese :/

I passed it actually, it wasn't bad per say. It lacked a few things that made past games great. It did have sidequests but there just missions where you fight monsters and so. The NPC part wasn't much at all. They say the new one will include towns, exploration, more sidequsts, multiple endings. So it could be good. Knowing me, since I like playing jp games, I'll get it.

@wccrawford, We probably stopped around the same place! I'm down on Pulse, and even though it's more of an open world, since there's nothing there besides animals it gets a bit annoying to trek all over the place. I tried to go to the main storyline and I got completely wiped out, so I'm going to have to grind. I'm not a fan of grinding :-(. I would like to finish the game, but I haven't been in a mood to play it.

For FF3 for the iPod- is there a way to change the language or do you have to buy a different version?

Hmm. I can set my system language to Japanese- I think that will work, but I don't really want to spend the money if it's not going to work...
edit: instant gratification convinced me to purchase it even though I couldn't find the answer on line- I figured I'd play it even if it's in English but mine is in Japanese (I set the system language to Japanese before playing)
Sidenote- my iPhone is from Japan (though my iTunes account is from America, and I purchased the game through my American account) so YMMV

A lot more trailers have been released (including the final one) before the launch date in December. I decided I'll be getting this game (since I don't usual buy much games anyhow). Looks sweet so far

i'm not sure if I'm willing to pay 100 Euro (with shipping/taxes) for another possible-most-likely FF disappointment. kinda mad that they didnt include a proper pause-screen again lol (where you can see the kanji/text)

yea, japanese people pay a lot more for games. the strong yen doesn't help. lucky there's asian versions now! I got tales of xillia 30$~ cheaper that way. but it seems like this won't apply for the asian FFXIII-2 edition.
