Noob question time. So, I finished Core 2000 anki deck yesterday (やったあ!), using it's "reading" layout and suspending "dictation" cards altogether (as I mentioned in my previous thread, my primary goal is to be able to read native Japanese texts). When moving onto Core 6k, I noticed the card layout differs greatly from Core 2k.

As you can see the Core 6k layout is simpler and has much less information. Even the sound file is now on front (though I can easily change that from Anki's settings). When studying Core 2k I used to hit "hard" if I could read the new word out loud (also understanding the meaning ofc), hit "good" if I could read the whole sentence and "easy" for some really simple sentences, otherwise "fail".
Now I can only quess what the "new" word is supposed to be (though in this case it seems to be ”上がる” = "to finish") so it's harder for me to learn and review cards like I did with Core 2k.
So, what way should I start studying Core 6k? Or should I get another anki deck? What kind of card layout do you prefer? Oh and on related note, is it better to not have any images at all so you focus more on the kanji and not the image?
All advice is welcome ^^
Thank you in advance

Just go along as *you* feel comfortable. Lots of people, including me, could tell you about this and that, how to do this and that better, more effective -- for *us* it worked, but it is not an automatism. It *may* work for you. My favourite saying:
