Yes actually.
Yes actually.

I think he meant MacBook Air. Only apple fanboys would understand that kind of language I suppose
I got an iPad and that is more than enough for me. I am sure the MBA's will be great looking though..

Yes, I've been waiting on bated breath for the new MBA. The old one is so 2010, and I have piles of cash lying around to spend on overpriced products from a greedy corporation.

Clearly you're just Apple haters.

This was funny when it was making the rounds: Apple triggers 'religious' reaction in fans' brains, report says

Oh. Apple. For a second, I thought my degree was going to be invalidated before I even started working for it. <_<

I think they'll be released on July 14th, possibly a week later. If I wasn't leaving the country on exactly July 14th (damn you Apple!) I would get one. Not quite sure yet, oversea prices are usually much higher and I'll have a more difficult time selling my current MBP overseas.

Oh, Mac talk...I also thought it was about the degree.(*_*;

Mac Book Airは高すぎるので、買わないだろうね。ノートパソを買おうと思っているのですが。
I was planning to get either that or an iPad or an E-book reader. I've seen one of those MacBook Air with 13" screen, they cost some 1.300€, and this is definitely too much for me, taking into consideration what i want to do with a mobile computer. And we are talking about the old model here, mind you.
I was playing with the thought of getting either a notebook an iPad or Ebook Reader since late August last year. Last week i went to get a cost estimate. If i can't decide to buy one by next week ... i will sit here until the same time next year, and still have no notebook, iPAD or Ebook-Reader.
It seems that I'm not good at making fast decisions. Or maybe it is that i just don't want to waste money for yet another electronic device for my household. Or spending money at all right now. All i know is that i want it, but i don't want to spend much money. But the likelihood that a truck loaded with notebooks, iPADs, or Ebook readers drives by my house, and drops one is 100,000,000,000:1, so not very likely ... ;-)

Maybe I can still snatch one the morning before I leave on July 14.. Please Apple, don't delay this release : )

From @nest0r's link.
"The neuroscientists ran a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on an Apple fanatic and discovered that images of the technology company's gadgets lit up the same parts of the brain as images of a deity do for religious people, the report says."
My skepticism radar beeped when I read that. I thought I was looking at The Onion news or something.

@damicore Why?
2011-07-02, 10:52 pm
Because:
#1 Apple products are wildly overpriced and they nowadays use regular intel processors (not like in the PowerPC days where mac could have been a little better at performance).
#2 If support for specific software is what you are looking for then go Windows, it's much more compatible with much more software (And I say this as a graphics design student who uses the adobe suit all the time).
#3 Linux for a change is the best operating system in terms of freedom, modability and for programming. I would change all my machines to Linux if I could replace Adobe CS haha.
I Personally wouldn't spend that much money just for an (arguably) good design. In fact if it were about the design of the product I'd go for the first square blocky notebooks, they just looked so nice

I used Windows all my life until I got my first mac computer about 6 years ago. I loved it at times, I hated it at others. Software compatibility is not really an issue, I have not yet found the first program I really need and can't run on the mac.
I used Linux for about a year when I went through a sort of leftist period during my college years. I have nothing to say against it. It was exciting. Programming C was (is) more exciting.
I don't know if mac computers are really overpriced but do realize that you are paying for a tested hardware configuration that is more robust than the average PC. The operating system itself is cheap.

Ever since I got my first Mac I would never go back to using a PC again. Similarly, I wouldn't go back to using some Linux distribution as my desktop system again. The only compatibility issue I have ever had with my Mac was Microsoft Access, which had to use exactly once for some project. I seriously dread touching a Windows PC ever since I've been working with a Mac.
Linux, oh well, I don't think it's suitable as a desktop system. What kind of benefit does it give you? Most distros have crappy UIs and are not polished enough. Since OS X is unix-based you can do everything with it you can do with a linux system, plus you get a FAR superior user experience.
About the design, oh well, that's personal taste but I think we can agree that Apple does a good job.

if you think a new mac is expensive, a second hand one is cheap and holds its value

Laptop + Hackint0sh = MacBook?? Why not? I'm thinking about it. I'm tired of AV software on Windows, so.. why not trying Apple's OS once? I had Linux in a variety of distributions, but didn't like it.

Apple is all about quality both software and hardware. You pay for what you get. Those Apple-haters jokes are old and stinky.
I still do my anki reviews on a 2002 mac Powerbook.. now show me a Windows PC that lasted more than 2 years...

All the laptops currently owned by my exchange uni.. running on windows XP
The Apple Fans are just as bad as the Apple Haters, there's a very distinct line drawn down the middle. I've found apple products to be more expensive and less reliable than their worth. My brothers had to replace his ipod 4 times in the lifespan of my Sony Walkman mp3. They release phones with "brand new features" every other smart phone had a year ago, and yet the fanboys still proclaim them to be the greatest thing ever.
Don't even get my started on their desktops which caused me nothing but aggro for 2 years in college.

I still have a Compaq tower purchased in...2002. Running Windows XP and it works just fine. I have a Fujitsu laptop 3 years old that I've used mercilessly every day all that time. Still runs fine.
PCs don't last more than 2 years? Puh-lease.
