I've been reading a few books lately like Bad Science and Brain Rules and I'm finding this style of writing both entertaining and educational. I was wondering if there's anything readable like this around in Japanese. I've never seen a hint of satire or anything to make the reading experience remotely compelling in a Japanese news article or textbook, so I wonder if anything like this would even be bearable in Japanese. Any hidden gems out there?
Also, has there been any update on the e-book situation, or are publishing companies still trying to strive off the Kindle revolution? It's so convenient buying eBooks from Amazon that I've already built up a library within a couple of months. I'd love a couple of Japanese books in there for when I'm on the train and whatnot, but I'm not impressed by the ancient offerings of Aozora Bunko...
