Edit: I ask because it sort of incorporates both perspectives: embracing the noise/sound as listening individuals and in doing so cultivating an aural awareness that may positively affect the aspects of communities' audio environments that are harmful.

That link nestor reminds me of something I read in nature or somewhere a while back on how scientists think they can determine the overall 'health' of an ecosystem simply by sound analsysis. Bio-acoustics if you will

Also reminds me of E.O. Wilson's Diversity of Life. His opening chapter was soo awesome, i actually felt like I was there with him.
