Buying JLPT Study Books

#1
I would like to buy some more JLPT books but the online sites I have found all charge ridiculous amounts to ship from Japan. Are there any good online sites for these books that ship within the US for a reasonable shipping cost? I am more looking for the Kanzen Master book series but anything is fine. Thanks for the help.

It shouldn't cost that much to ship books from Japan by surface mail. I see now that Amazon Japan doesn't offer that anymore. You could try yesasia.com, although I haven't used them myself.

In my experience, shipping books by surface actually costs more than airmail because of the low size/weight ratio, but the post office might have just been acting weird for me.

Kinokunia ships from within the US, and they have a pretty good selection but they really jack their prices up:
West Coast
East Coast

Benippon ships from Japan, but their shipping prices aren't too bad if you have them ship by SAL:

If you're taking level 1 or 2 of the test, I recommend 日本語能力試験に出る文法 (Kinokuniya has it). It's the only book I used.

When I was in Toronto I ordered books from Sasuga Books:

I think it cost me about $10 in shipping to order two of the Kanzen Master 2kyuu books, and around $30 total. Was worth it, although in hindsight it would have been cheaper to get them here in Tokyo (duh). But that was before I knew if I would make it into the exchange program at my university to come here.

I've ordered from them before for other stuff too, mostly for manga, and shipping has always been prompt. I recommend them. ^_^

I placed my first order with yesasia.com a few weeks ago. I bought some manga, prices were about the same as most places and I got free shipping. Only thing I'd nitpick about is they ship it from their suppliers to them, then ship it out to you so it takes awhile.
